Lapis lazuli dream

Lapis lazuli is an ancient gem.  It literally translates to "Blue Stone (lapis being Latin for 'stone', and lazuli being Arabic for 'blue').  It was first mined in the mountains of Afghanistan, with some of those same mines still producing the most high quality lapis available today.  Thousands of years ago, lapis was more valuable than gold!

The Egyptians believed that lapis lazuli offered protection from harm and could foretell true and faithful love when it appeared in one's dreams.  It was often used in religious ceremonies as a magical stone, and can be found in almost every mythology throughout time.

This necklace measures approximately 17" long.  The lapis amulet measures approximately 1" across and 3/4" in height.  The chain has lapis lazuli chips through the length, and is kept together with a standard necklace clasp.
